OS X 10.11.6 messed up touchpad

The latest update has put my touchpad on strike - totally unresponsive from one minute to next.

OK after restart, but then happening again and again- has anyone experienced this?

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X El Capitan (10.11.6)
